After add/drop period closes, the Course Add form opens.
This form is used by Yale College students to add a late course addition to their course schedule. There is a $5 fee for the addition of a course and additional forms must be submitted to add multiple courses.
To use the Course Add form efficiently, students should be aware of the following:
- As students complete the form, the form will check for available seats for the course. If there are no seats available in the desired course, the student will not be able to proceed with the form.
- Students will be prompted to provide backup choices for courses with a mandatory discussion/lab section. If they only select one discussion/lab section and that section is full (seats available are shown at time of selection) they will not be able to proceed with the form until selecting a section with available seats.
- The form calculates the students’ available course credit. If they don’t have enough credit available, they receive an alert and will not be able to proceed further with the form. Thus, a student will know that they must drop a course before they can proceed with the course addition.
- If they are near their course credit limit and want to add a course, they should submit the Course Drop/Course Change form first to drop a course.
- Only one course (and a related lab/section if applicable) can be added per form.
- Once a course is dropped or added, the action will be recorded in real time to the Degree Audit, but it could take up to two hours before students see the change.
- Degree Audit may need to be refreshed using the tool at top of the page before changes will be visible.
